Food review: Barber stuffed chicken breasts - Creme Brie Apple

This is my first experience with Barber Foods and I bought Creme Brie and Apple because it sounded like a unique combination of flavors that I am likely to like.   I was not disappointed!  The chicken tasted fresh, the stuffing was creamy and slightly sweet with cranberries adding a bit of tartness.



Making it could not be any easier - just unwrapped and put in the oven.  35 minutes later it is ready to eat.  Each box contains 2 breasts, each breast is 270 calories.  I really liked the flavor and I will be trying other stuffing as well.

Food review: Newtons Fruit Chewy Cookies, Whole Grain Triple Berry

My new favorite Newtons Cookie



On my last trip to the local supermarket I thought I grabbed a box of Fig Newtons and only when I got home I realized that it was a box of Triple Berry Newtons instead of my old favorite.  When I bit into it I was pleasantly surprised - the texture and taste were similar to my old favorite but with a slightly tarter flavor. I love it!

Food review: SunRype Apple Strawberry Fruit to Go 100% Fruit Strips

I got the strawberry flavor and I love the taste. It is sweet but not too sweet, a little bit tart, and has the recognizable strawberry flavor. No funny artificial flavor at all.  Each strip is 4" x 1" (the strip itself, not the packaging).



These strips are individually wrapped and come in a box that works as a dispenser.  The Amazon description states that the strawberry apple strips are 120 calories per strip, but each of strawberry apple strips state that it is 50 calories. I like that better than 120 calories!

Food review: Dried Fruit with Nuts Tray Gift by Turkish Delight

This collection of dried fruits is perfect contribution to a holiday party.  The package comes with a black plastic tray which can be used to display the dried fruits.  They look beautiful and unique and the flavors are very nice.  The dried apricots and figs are wonderful and they are stuffed with nuts which adds an interesting twist to an old favorite.  Grape leather stuffed with pistachios looks like cookies.  Their flavor is subtle and only slight sweet.  I've never had anything similar to it, they are quite delightful.  The little dark tubes are thickened grape juice stuffed with walnuts, it is the sweetest of all the deserts on the tray.  The balls are fruit paste coated with pistachios, unlike the other treats they are quite soft and practically melt in my mouth.

I like this collection - it has a nice variety, it tastes great, and visually it attractive to grace any desert table.

Food review: Luxury Barberry Coated Turkish Delight w/ Pomegranate Flavor and Double Pistachio / Gourmet Gift Box

I loved the flavor of this desert.  It is sweet without being overly sweet, a little bit tart, and has a chewing texture without sticking to my teeth. Is made out of Turkish berries called Zerenshk which are similar to cranberries but a little sweeter and smaller than cranberries that we see in see in Northeast.



They come in an attractive box with 16 pieces in each box.  Originally I thought I might bring them as a contribution to a holiday party because they looked attractive and the size of the pieces is right not too large and not too small.  However, after trying one I decided I liked them too much and kept them for myself.

Food review: Turkish delights - figs and walnuts

If you  like dried figs you are guaranteed  to like these turkish candies.  They are made out of dried figs, pieces of walnuts and powdered sugar.  They spongy and chewy just like you would expect from a dried fruit desert.  I hope the video gives you a better idea of the texture.



The box has two layers of candies, 9 squares in each row.



They go well with tea or coffee instead of adding sugar into the cup.

Food review: Ground Turkish Coffee 100% Arabica, Imported from Istanbul

I got this coffee for my husband who like bold testing coffee.  He drinks is black.  I prefer medium roast coffee so I add milk to the coffee to mellow it.  This coffee has a very finaly ground, It comes vaccum packed inside of an attractive tin.



I make turkish coffee in a cezve, which is a small metal pot.  The coffee has to be simmers (not boiled). When it starts to foam remove the pot from the heat, then I repeat the process one more time. The foaming happens before the boiling point.  After simmering for the second time I give it a few minutes for coffee grinds to settle at the bottom of the pot and the pour.



My husband likes strong coffee so this has become a favorite of his.  I like the tin, once we are done with the coffee I plan to re-use the tin because it closes well and it looks nice.

Food review: Sole Bean Coffee 100% Arabica Colombian Supremo Medium Roasted Whole Beans

Sole bean coffee is medium roast coffee with a smooth taste. On the spectrum of medium roast coffees some range towards light and some range toward dark roast.  The sole bean coffee in the range towards light coffee, but has has intense flavor of medium roast coffee. The coffee comes in a ventilated foil pack. The package is fairly small - 8.8 oz.  The coffee smells terrific (both as whole beans and after it has been grounded).  The flavor is intense yet mellow.

Food review: Gourmet 555 Organic Roasted Seaweed

Gourmet 555 Organic Roasted Seaweed contains 16 individual packages, each package contains a tub with 9 sheets of seaweed. Each piece is about 1.75" x 2.75" in size.



Each piece is a very thin and crispy wafers of seaweed. They have a slightly salty seaweed flavor. They crunch and then dissolve in your mouth. I liked them! And with each new piece I want more. Each package is about the right amount for a nice little snack.



This snack has no sugar or additives, while fairly low on calories, and not too bad on salt. At the same time it is rich in iodine, iron, and protein. So this is pretty healthy snack overall.
